Jonathan Layfield serves as Vice President of Finance at York Electric Cooperative, where he leads a ten-member team across accounting and billing. Since joining YEC in 2020, he has made a significant impact—implementing financial systems for a new fiber access partnership with Comporium, providing internet access to 5,000 members. He also revamped the Cooperative’s credit card program to improve cash-back benefits, reduce banking costs, and streamline expense processing.

In addition to managing financial strategy and risk, Jonathan recently led a budgeting overhaul that improved insight and planning across all departments. But his proudest accomplishment is the professional growth of his team. “Seeing team members expand their skills, take on new challenges, and contribute to the Cooperative’s goals has been incredibly rewarding,” he says.

A 2024 graduate and elected class leader of Leadership York County (LYCO), Jonathan continues to support the program through its planning council. He also serves on the supervisory committee for First Cooperative Credit Union and volunteers with The Burrell Foundation, which raises funds to provide financial assistance for community members in need—from replacing a child’s bicycle to repairing a roof.
