Three Things to Know: LegalShield
Access to legal guidance can feel complicated or expensive, but Courtney Edwards is working to make it more approachable for individuals, families, and businesses. As an Independent Associate with LegalShield and IDShield, Courtney helps connect clients with legal and identity theft protection services designed to provide support when they need it.
Get to know Courtney and LegalShield in this edition of Three Things to Know.
1. Courtney has built his business around relationships and service.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Courtney Edwards describes himself as someone who rarely lets the grass grow under his feet. An avid traveler with an outgoing personality, he enjoys meeting new people and finding ways to make their lives easier.
That people-first approach has also shaped his professional career. Courtney has worked in customer service since 2000, building his business around a simple goal: exceed client expectations.
He joined LegalShield in 2004 and has since grown a book of business spanning more than 10 states while expanding his organization to more than 180 associates across the United States.
Now, as York County and the surrounding region continue to grow, Courtney is focused on becoming a trusted local resource for individuals, families, employees, and small businesses seeking legal and identity theft protection solutions.
2. LegalShield is designed to make legal services more accessible.
LegalShield has provided legal service plans since 1972, with a mission centered on expanding access to legal support.
Through LegalShield and IDShield, Courtney works with individuals, families, small businesses, and employers to provide access to legal and identity theft protection services through membership plans. His specialties include employee benefits, small business solutions, and Commercial Driver Legal Plans (CDLP).
For Courtney, the value of the service comes down to helping remove some of the uncertainty people may experience when they need legal assistance.
One of the biggest challenges he encounters is helping people understand the prepaid legal services model. Courtney says education, customer experiences, and word of mouth have played an important role in helping people better understand how LegalShield works and when the service can be useful.
3. Courtney sees tremendous opportunity in York County.
Courtney is excited about the growth happening throughout York County and the opportunity to grow alongside the community.
“I love doing business in York County,” he says. “Coming from a major metropolitan city, it’s good to see a smaller community that I’m able to grow with.”
As new residents and businesses move into the area, Courtney sees an increasing need for resources that can support entrepreneurs, employers, families, and individuals. He also sees his Chamber membership as an important way to build the relationships that make that possible.
“The Chamber is able to help me get in rooms where I’m able to shake hands with people who need an alternative to an old model,” he says.
His goal is simple: when someone in the community thinks about LegalShield, he wants them to know exactly who to call.
Courtney believes LegalShield's reach will continue to grow in the years ahead, particularly through individuals, small businesses, and employers offering legal services as an employee benefit.
