At York Technical College, Alyssa Collins is helping students build a stronger foundation for success both inside and outside the classroom. As Director of Advising & Retention, Alyssa leads a team focused on guiding students through their academic journey while creating systems that improve retention, engagement, and long-term achievement.

After four years within the department, Alyssa stepped into her leadership role and immediately began making an impact. She helped redesign the college’s advising model into a more personalized, data-driven approach that has increased student appointments, strengthened faculty involvement, and enhanced collaboration across campus. She also created the content for the college’s First Year Experience course, helping new students start their college careers with confidence and support.

A passionate advocate for student success and mental health, Alyssa works to ensure every student has access to the resources and encouragement they need to thrive. Her efforts have contributed to steady returning student enrollment numbers during a challenging time for higher education institutions nationwide.

Beyond campus, Alyssa is deeply involved in the community through organizations like ArtPop Street Gallery and Rock Hill Community Theatre, where she supports local arts initiatives and helps create new opportunities for students and residents alike. She also volunteers her time supporting neurodiverse individuals through one-on-one coaching sessions.

Through her leadership, compassion, and commitment to helping others succeed, Alyssa Collins is making a lasting impact on York County and its future workforce. As one of the Chamber’s Ones to Watch, Alyssa represents the next generation of leaders shaping our community for the better.
