Leslie Galvez

Leslie Galvez is the definition of a connector—working at the intersection of civic leadership, community empowerment, and grassroots engagement. As the City of Rock Hill’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Leslie helps residents form and sustain neighborhood associations while bridging relationships between the City and key public and private stakeholders. Her work ensures voices are heard and resources reach those who need them most.

One of Leslie’s standout accomplishments has been revitalizing the Inside Rock Hill civic education program. Since taking over the initiative, she has tripled alumni volunteer engagement and is currently developing a graduate-level capstone program to help alumni turn knowledge into action. Her leadership is also shaping the creation of an employee-only version of the course, further embedding community-minded leadership within the City workforce.

Leslie is an active force beyond her job description. She sits on the board of the Winthrop University Educational Community Garden, where she helps expand healthy food access through urban agriculture. She also serves on the YCRC Leadership York County Planning Council, curating programming to spotlight education and tourism. Whether organizing Thanksgiving donations for Habitat for Humanity, supporting disaster relief efforts, or volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse after April’s hailstorm, Leslie is quick to lend a hand.

And at home? She’s just as compassionate. Leslie is a full-time foster for Halfway There Rescue, currently caring for Heart—a deaf pitty mix whose trust and confidence have flourished under her guidance. Whether it’s neighbors, animals, or colleagues, Leslie meets every challenge with empathy, energy, and vision—making her truly One to Watch in York County.
