Taylor Thomas

For Taylor Thomas, leadership is about more than identifying challenges. It's about understanding the people behind them and creating meaningful solutions that change lives.

As Executive Director of Pathways Community Center, Taylor leads with empathy, purpose, and a commitment to serving others. With more than 13 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, he has dedicated his career to building partnerships, developing innovative programs, and expanding opportunities across our region.

One of Taylor's most impactful accomplishments is the creation of a Culinary Workforce Readiness Program at Pathways. Recognizing a gap between local workforce needs and employment opportunities for individuals facing barriers, he partnered with York Technical College to provide culinary training and industry-recognized ServSafe Manager certification. The inaugural class welcomed 11 participants, with 100% earning their certification and multiple participants securing employment immediately after graduation. Beyond developing workforce skills, the program is helping individuals build confidence, independence, and hope for the future.

Taylor's commitment to innovative solutions extends throughout Pathways. He helped launch a Chaplain Program to support the well-being of frontline staff and strengthened community partnerships, including supporting House of Agape in establishing a daily breakfast program for individuals in need.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Taylor regularly volunteers alongside community partners, serves as Treasurer at Wilksburg Baptist Church, supports the church's Blessing Box ministry, and serves on the York County Council on Aging Board of Directors.

Throughout his career, Taylor has championed programs that create lasting community impact. During his time with the Boy Scouts of America, he helped establish a Scouting program at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, an initiative nationally recognized for its inclusive approach that continues to serve more than 50 youth today.

What truly sets Taylor apart is his willingness to understand the people he serves. From spending a day walking alongside individuals experiencing homelessness to developing programs that address real-world barriers, he leads with compassion and a belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed.

Through his dedication to building partnerships, strengthening communities, and creating pathways to opportunity, Taylor exemplifies the kind of leadership that makes our region stronger.

Congratulations to Taylor Thomas on being recognized as one of the York County Regional Chamber's Ones to Watch!
