BUSINESS SMALL BUSINESS COUNCIL ROUNDTABLES
Overview
The Small Business Council Roundtables provide a forum whereby small business owners can pool their efforts to make their own businesses more successful and profitable.
Roundtables provide support and guidance to small business owners through a close network of non-competing peers.
These groups can be very advantageous, not only in solving specific problems that relate to business, but in providing participants with an expanded circle of business acquaintances.
The Commitment
Membership is open to owners/partners and managers of small businesses who contribute to the day-to-day operations and who are members in good standing of the York County Regional Chamber. For the purpose of the roundtable program, a small business is defined as 25 employees or less. A nominal fee of $20 per participant is assessed to cover the cost of administration and materials.
It is a year-long program with monthly meetings of the participants and regular attendance is mandatory to ensure success of the program.
Each participant is required to sign a confidentiality statement that no information discussed within the roundtable group will be disclosed to anyone not participating.
How the Program Works
Approximately 10-15 people from non-competing small businesses are assigned to each group. Each group member is invited to host a monthly meeting at their place of business to showcase their business to other members. The host will then present to the group a particular topic of discussion confronting their business. Remaining group members act as advisors to thoroughly investigate the issue and offer suggestions based on their own experiences.
