BUSINESS   SBC Goals and Actions 2013

Mission of the Small Business Council (SBC):
Providing connections for small business owners to realize the greater value within their Chamber membership
.

2015 Goal:
Increase the impact of the Small Business Council to bring valuable programming and revenue that reflects an increased interest and participation by 10% in SBC events and programming

Subcommittee Goals:
Education:
To create periodic events and programming that reflects small business owners and entrepreneurs needs to network and gain visibilty while also equiping them with knowledge and resources that reach a variety of need levels.
    - Entrepreneurial - focused networking/panel events (June, August)
                - Targeted networking with a specific themes (i.e., marketing/branding with diverse solutions; Finances with diverse solutions and experiences)
                - 3 people per panel, 20 minute limit for panel
                - Sponsorship dollars are necessary to meet '15 budget
    - Power Luncheon - Small Biz focused with one main speaker (May)
                - Sponsorship dollars necessary to meet '15 budget

Communications (formerly "Resources"):
To communicate the message of the opportunities for small business owners. 
    - Promote SBC efforts/programs through Chamber website, newsletter, and events
                - Create panel insert/brochure customizable for promoting SBC programs
    - Identify a Buy Local Committee liason by
March 30th
                - Coordinate communication of activities like Buy Local Day, Small Business Week, Small Business Saturday
    - Promote SBC resource web page (FAQ)

Connections/Relationships:
To revitalize the Peer Advisory program to have one successful group of approx. 8-10 small business owners participating.
    - Establish a Peer Advisory Chair and schedule first subcommittee meeting by March 30th 
    - Identify participants and appropriate business categories by
April 30th
    - Schedule launch of new Peer Advisory group with a goal of 8-10 participants by May 30th

Recognition:
To establish an application and scoring process that effectively recognizes achievement within nominees and diversity of the recipients.
    - Subcommittee to revisit/ revise specific areas (...application award criteria, weighting of categories, judging process, selection flexibility to encourage awardee diversity, etc.)
    - First subcommittee meeting to be held by March 30th
    - First draft of revisions presented by June SBC board meeting
    - Final revisions made and aproved by July 31st
