The York County Regional Chamber’s Main Street Live! Concert Series will continue on August 5 in downtown Rock Hill . The outdoor festival will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., featuring CrossHare.

Local vendors will be there serving delicious food and beverages for all ages. Valid identification must be presented to purchase wristbands and alcoholic beverages.

Admission is free to attend the concert.

CrossHare is a group of musicians performing in the Rock Hill SC region, unique because of the diversity in the style of music performed. They cover old country music, southern rock, blues, and classic rock, beach, pop and metal. You may even hear some jazz on special occasions. Together hey have over 50 years in the musical entertainment industry.

Bereaved children are invited to create works of art with the assistance of a grief counselor and local artists on August 9th through the 12th from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm for children ages 5 to 17.

The York County Regional Chamber and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce are preparing for a successful 2011 legislative session to continue joint efforts of improving South Carolina ’s global competitiveness and increasing the state’s per capita income. As representatives of the South Carolina Chamber say, this important policy-changing work begins at the local grassroots level.

From noon until 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25, join us for the York Regional Grassroots Network Meeting. It will be held at the City Club of Rock Hill, 140 E. Main St . The cost to attend is $16 per person, which includes lunch and materials.

Also recognizing the need to work on the regional level, five area chambers will join forces with the York County Regional and State chamber to conduct this planning luncheon. In addition to those from the Regional and S.C. chamber, business and community leaders from the chambers in Clover, Lake Wylie, York and Chester and Lancaster counties will be included.

This open-forum session is one of the first steps in creating the annual Competitiveness Agenda, the state business community’s annual list of legislative priorities. It will begin with a legislative review from the S.C. Chamber’s Public Policy staff before moving into an open discussion of legislative issues that must be addressed during the next legislative session.

Attendance at the annual grassroots meetings continue to grow. Participants bring compelling issues to the meeting, which helps the chambers create this comprehensive legislative agenda. Once issues are defined and strategies are developed, the chambers work with legislative officials to create an environment that will improve the business climate in the state.

This year’s efforts resulted in legislation passed that led to substantial savings for the business community. Time and again, the business community has seen the power of a well-unified grassroots network in pushing through vital issues and halting those that are harmful to the state’s business climate. More than 100 business leaders from the tri-county area, as well as community leaders and legislators, attended last year’s program.

This Main Street Live Event will feature The Company Band, an eclectic blend of Jazz, R&B, Top 40, Motown, Rock, and everything in between. "The Company Band" experience is one you will never forget!
