CHAMBER Area Council ConceptThe area council structure of YCRCC’s is the delivery system for Chamber programs and services. The area councils are designed to be the “eyes and ears” of the respective communities served by the Regional Chamber. The area councils were established at the conception of the Regional Chamber in 1999 and represent the interests of the areas formerly served by the Greater Fort Mill, Rock Hill Area, and Tega Cay chambers of commerce. Each area council is governed by a board of directors and operates its own office facility.
The following are some of the functions of the area councils:
- Provide area leadership with the training, advice, and support for that community.
- Support the umbrella organization for the betterment of the region, allowing the sharing and combining of services and skills of people from all areas of the county.
- Identify the leadership in the area who can make outstanding contributions to the Regional Chamber and area government committees and commissions.
- Provide a local network of business people, programs, and services.
